North Shore

 Shalom everyone!
It's so strange being back here in Hawaii after a three month summer break, it almost feels like we've never left. However, we've come back with some great memories of friends, family, and adventures. It's hard for me (Ella) especially to forget any adventures because every time I look at my bruised and scarred legs I'm instantly reminded of them.
The place we're staying in is a very nice neighborhood with a ten minute walk to the beach and a five minute walk from where we used to stay. There's no furniture (We actually like all the open space) and we're all sleeping on air mattresses. Three girls in one bedroom and the young'ins in the other. Lucky Eema and Abba get the upstairs to themselves. Being "simple people", as my dad so often states, we don't use the air conditioning and so our days are hot and sticky. The water cools us off though, and even though school's started for all of us kiddos, we still find time to go to the beach/pool everyday.
Last Sunday half of our family headed up to the North Shore for some snorkeling at Shark's Cove. It was amazing, the water was clear and fish were everywhere. Abba claims it is the best snorkeling on the island, and I've got to agree. It was too bad we didn't bring our underwater camera, it would've been cool to get some pics. Henny and I were able to do a really cool "swim through" (a short tunnel or shelf that you can swim under), and Abba did several. It is so peaceful and quite when you are near the rocky bottom and looking up at the blue above, that is until you realize you can't hold your breath much longer and have to quickly swim to the surface with burning lungs.
Even though it's called Shark's Cove, sharks are rarely spotted there, if ever, but I admit to constantly keeping a look out into the distance for sharks. Thankfully we didn't see any. However, it is easy to imagine shapes in the blue hues beyond where I can clearly see, but with keeping my breathing calm and prayer I can enjoy my time.

Driving along the North Shore
After just forty-five minutes we were tired out, and headed home after a a lunch of nachos and a quick stop in Haleiwa. That evening we went out to dinner, and had a family mikvah with The Rabbi at the beach during a sunset, and sadly we didn't get any pictures.

In light of the upcoming holidays, Chag Sameach to everyone!
